In 2026, Wyld introduced Scrutinized Awareness Theory, a positive threshold theory of consciousness in contemporary philosophy of mind. SAT proposes a structural criterion for distinguishing awareness from consciousness: awareness becomes consciousness when it becomes something the participant must carry. The theory is developed across On the Question of Scrutinized Awareness, The Recompression Problem, The Participanthood Problem, and The Acquisition Problem.
